Motorcycle accident in Rye: Appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a van in Rye.

The incident, involving a black KTM Duke and a red Vauxhall Combo, occurred on the B2089 Udimore Road about 12.02pm on Tuesday (8 May).

The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man from Crowborough, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London with serious but not life-threatening injuries, where he remains at this stage.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Alderton.

‘We have had reports over the last few days of properties in Brede being the targets of day time burglary’s.

Items have been left on display in vehicles which has caused a spike in this type of crime.
Please take your valuables with you when you leave your vehicle – don’t be tempted to leave them behind.

Courier Scam

Sussex Police have issued the following warning about a courier scam:

We have had a number of reports of courier scams across Hastings & Rother.

The scammer poses as a police officer on the telephone and tells victims to withdraw money from the bank then have it collected.

Police officers would never ask you for money.
Some people have lost nearly £5,000 by falling for this scam.
If you get a call such as this – please do not part with any money and call us as soon as possible to report it.
