News from Pett Methodist Church

After a busy Christmas season we are preparing to do some essential work on our building. The original chapel, built 1848 is very damp. This is now causing some problems, so work should be starting in March to repair brickwork and pointing and replace the false ceiling and improve damp-proofing on the walls. While all this is happening the Post Office will still be open, but you will find Anthea in the church itself, so entry will be via the main door.

The fair trade stall will also be in the church so you can still purchase items.

Village Voices and band rehearsals will continue as usual.

Along with this important work we have plans to open the well that is in the garden. We have started but it is going to be quite a job, so will probably take much of the summer!

McColls who run our outreach Post Office contacted us to find help for Anthea before Christmas to help her unload and load her gear. This we did with many thanks to all the volunteers who stepped forward.

Jigsaw Puzzle Evening: We have just trialled this new idea and although a lot of people wondered whether it would work we had a great evening. I must admit it was the first time I had offered refreshments and been ignored, due to the concentration. Thank you to all those who came and yes we will repeat it!

A Date for your Diary: Friday June 5th. There will be a concert by Jonathan Viera at the Village Hall. He is an amazing singer/songwriter, who has toured the world during his career. More information and tickets will be available soon.
