Rother Neighbourhood Watch

Good morning to you all. Please find below some useful information sent to me by one of my coordinators in Stonegate that you might find helpful.
Click on the links to find the info.
………………………………………………………………………….Hello Ted
How are you?
A couple of things I want to run by you.
I don’t know whether this information will be of help to your members but some thoughts regarding unwanted phone calls and scams.
♦ Lots of information here from Citizens Advice.

Stop getting nuisance calls and texts

Action to take to stop getting nuisance calls and text messages

♦ Telephone Preference Service  although this is not 100% reliable, especially against calls routed from overseas.

Telephone Preference Service.

Increasingly scammers are using either mobile numbers or a landline number shows, leading people to answer rather than ignore a withheld number.
♦ For people who have use of the internet, there are various sites where you can input the caller’s number and see if it’s been identified – you can then either warn others or just block it from calling you again.
This is the site I use.

Who called me? | Free Reverse Phone Lookup

Received a call from unknown phone number. Use this FREE reverse phone directory to find out who called you!

♦ There are also landline handsets which claim to block nuisance callers, but to be honest, these organisations change numbers so often they still get through.
Also, can I ask you to keep a particular look out for crime reports in the Ticehurst and Stonegate area please.
There is a white transit van with occupants described as ginger haired, slight build and a heavily tattooed hand, plus a younger guy with thick, dark hair and eyebrows. They are being seen a lot around here and it seems they’re either attempting break-ins or just casing the area, Wadhurst, Cousley Wood and possibly Heathfield too.
