Coffee Morning and Community Library Notes – November

The November Coffee Morning was bustling and buzzing. We at the library table were overwhelmed by all the noise as it is the first time we have set up indoors all year. However, we were delighted to see so many people. If you have not yet been along to find out what we are about, do pop by and say hello to us, Anna and Vivien, at our table which is always right by the door – just inside now that the season has changed. If you need another reason to come, the coffee and cake is always good and the welcome warm.

Several people have said how much they enjoyed ‘The Battle for Scotland’ by Andrew Marr, so we are nominating it for Book of The Month. Likewise, a popular novel ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’; set in 1950s and ’60s Deep South, this book is an ode to Nature, a coming-of-age tale, a love story and perhaps a murder all brought together eloquently by wildlife scientist and author Delia Owen. If you have really enjoyed your choice from the Community Library, do let us know so that we can recommend it to others.

Jane brings some of the jigsaw puzzle collection, too, and has created the most marvellous catalogue which is now up on the village website. An exclusive paper copy of the catalogue is available to view at our library. But you don’t have to wait a month for the puzzles, as Jane is happy to help you out in between Coffee Mornings and you can contact her on 07788 410342 (at a reasonable time, please).

In addition, one of the Badminton group meetings always coincides with the Coffee Morning – details can be found elsewhere in this magazine. Another good reason to come along to the Village Hall on the first Wednesday of the month. Next date: Wednesday 1st December, 10 – 12.  Hope to see you there.
