August Coffee Morning and Community Library

Bunting (thanks, Jen) sunshine and free cake – the August coffee morning was a huge success so thank you to everybody who came along. It was a joy to stand in the kitchen and hear again the hubbub of voices, people chatting and laughing, meeting friends old and new; it seems like such a long time since we were all together in such numbers. Thank you to Mary for the lemon drizzle cakes, they were soon consumed as they were so delicious. Thank you to Jan and Julie for helping in the kitchen; they haven’t lived in the village for long but are always keen to help and become involved. In September we hope Fran will be back with us and we can welcome you all again to the village coffee morning.

The library also played its part, lending a record number of books and enrolling more new borrowers – simple to join and always free.

And, as usual, David Penfold was there to represent the Parish Council and answer any questions. Hot topic in August was trimming the allotment borders to avoid nettles going to seed and springing up in carefully tended plots.

Do come along and play your part, just by being at the Village Hall on Wednesday September 1st, 10 – 12. All funds raised at the Coffee Morning go to the Village Hall. See you there!!
