PETT LEVEL INDEPENDENT RESCUE BOAT ASSOCIATION

REGISTERED CHARITY NO 286891

Our well-attended AGM was held at The New Beach Club on Sunday 8thApril. The Committee was voted back en bloc, so here I am for another year. Most of you will either know or have heard of Lou Parsons who has served the Rescue Boat since its foundation. He has held most positions during that time and passed on invaluable skills and knowledge to our crew members. These days he is less ‘hands on’ but has served as a Trustee where his store of knowledge has always been there to be tapped. With that in mind it was proposed that Lou should be invited to accept the post of Honorary President in recognition of his sterling service over many years. On 6th April I drove to Hailsham to visit Marlow Ropes Ltd as our old tow rope was in need of replacement. I had hoped for a discount (well one has to try!) but to my amazement we were given nearly £300 worth of rope. A most sincere ‘Thank You’ to Marlow Ropes. As always, take care when walking near the sea particularly when under the Cliffs as there have been a number of falls this Winter.

PLIRB is looking for volunteers to join our friendly team saving lives inland and on the hazardous coastline between Rye and Hastings.

If you’ve got a little spare time, why not do something worthwhile at the same time as being trained and having fun?

You could be trained in first aid, radio work, boat launching & recovery; mechanics… the list is endless.  This is a great opportunity for you to learn new skills to help save lives on or off the water. The tea maker is as important a job as any!

Or call us on 01424 812 222
