What works are taking place?
We will be carrying out drainage, kerbing, targeted patching & resurfacing works on Sea Road, Winchelsea.
When will these works start?
The drainage & kerbing works will take place from 1st to 28th June. The road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place.
The resurfacing & targeted patching will take place from 28th June to 1st July under a road closure. We will be resurfacing from A259 to outside a property called Vanek. We will be patching from the entrance to holiday park heading north to outside a property called Vanek. Patching works will target structural failures this year in preparation for a final thin surfacing of the whole carriageway to provide a uniform surface in the following year.
Road closure information
During the patching and resurfacing works, Sea Road will be closed to through traffic for periods from A259 to the entrance of Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park.
Monday 28th June – Road closed 8am-5pm.
Tuesday 29th June – Road closed 8am-5pm & 8pm-6am.
Wednesday 30th June – Road closed 8am-5pm & 8pm-6am.
Thursday 1st July – Road closed 8am-5pm.
Access for residents and to businesses will be maintained but there may be delays. Traffic will be diverted via Battery Hill, Fairlight Road, Rye Road, A259 Winchelsea Road, A259 Main Road, A259 Tanyard Lane & vice versa.
Information for local people
Vehicle access: The road will be closed to through traffic. This is for your safety and the safety of our workers. If you do need vehicle access then please discuss this with the team on site. We will try to give access where we can but there may be long delays whilst we make the area safe. We will always allow access for emergency vehicles. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Weather: If it rains, we might be delayed in our works. We will keep you updated with any changes via advance warning signs.
Parking: There will be ‘no parking’ signs and cones on site to advise where parking is restricted.
Buses: We apologise if our works cause disruption to your bus service. Please check with the bus company for any alterations to the service during this time.
Bin Collections: We have informed your local council about these works. Your local District or Borough Council will let you know if there are any changes to your collection.
